A Talk on the Services of the Diablo Valley Foundation for the Aging (DVFA)
Two representatives from the Diablo Valley Foundation for the Aging (DVFA) will make a presentation to the Volunteer Exchange on Wednesday, October 2. The mission of DVFA is to help seniors maintain independence, dignity, and peace of mind. The meeting will be at 10:30 a.m. in the Fireside Room at Gateway.
DVFA is a non-profit founded in 1975 by local community leaders including the late Dean Lesher, for whom Walnut Creek’s Lesher Center was named. They provide a variety of vital services to seniors who don’t have nearby family to rely on.
Director Jody Iorns will discuss the Fiduciary and Money Management services that they can provide. Gerontologist Terri Tobey, a Rossmoor resident, will discuss Care Management services.
Handouts providing additional information about their services will be available. Lastly, Terri will suggest some volunteer opportunities that are available with their organization. As always, nonmembers are welcome to attend club meetings.
**********************************************************************************
The men and women of the Volunteer Exchange perform services for each other such as transportation and pet care. In this way, they earn credit hours which they can use in the future to “pay” other members for services. New members able to provide services are always welcome. Services are not available to non-members.
Detailed information about the club can be found on the club’s web page. The web page can be easily accessed via a link in the “Clubs” section on the www.rossmoor.com web page.
For more information, residents are invited to attend one of the monthly meetings or call 906-9882.
