Volunteer Exchange to Hear About Travels with Grand kids, Wednesday 10:30 A.M, Jan. 3, 2018
Everyone has the best grandchildren in the world, and everyone loves sharing the best with those kids. Their wonderful minds soak in everything around them and grandparents can surround them with enriching new people, places, cultures, and experiences on a learning adventure together. Introducing grandchildren to the world of travel can be one of the greatest gifts they will ever receive.
An Inter-generational Holiday is the perfect medium for fun, adventures, and challenges. Besides strengthening the bonds between you and your grandchild, the grandchildren share their adventures with kids about their own age who have the same interests. Road Scholar offers journeys in the United States and internationally for grandchildren with grandparents. You might choose to see the jungles of Costa Rica or Kenya, to sail and sleep on a sloop off the coast of Maine, cruise on a riverboat in France, hike in Yellowstone, become an expert on United States history in Philadelphia, or go behind the scenes in Colonial Williamsburg.
Mary Jean Odmark has traveled with her grandchildren (one at a time!) on three Road Scholar Intergenerational trips (Boston, New York, and Vancouver Island) and will share her experiences at the January 3 meeting of the Volunteer Exchange. She’ll let you know how much fun these holidays were and can give you some tips for inspiring your sense of adventure in your grandchild and for traveling together.

Members of the Volunteer Exchange assist other members with services such as transportation and personal care needs. Volunteering allows members to log volunteer hours that can then be exchanged for services when needed in the future. It is not an emergency service and is available to members only. Men and women may apply for membership by calling (925)906-9882. Annual dues are $15. For details, visit the website: https://rossmoorvep.weebly.com/
