Volunteer Exchange Will Host Rossmoor Drama Association’s Traveling Troupe, Wednesday, February 7, 2024
The Volunteer Exchange will meet Wednesday, February 7 at 10:30 a.m. in the Fireside Room at Gateway. At this month’s meeting they will see two skits put on by the Traveling Troupe of the Drama Association of Rossmoor.
The first is a comedy by Christopher Durang, called “The DMV Tyrant”. It tells the story of a man who aced his driver’s test but faces a bureaucratic nightmare when he tries to renew his license at the DMV. The second piece is a poignant monologue from the play “Love, Loss and What I Wore,” penned by Nora and Delia Ephron. Titled “Geralyn’s Story,” it narrates the tale of a woman who bravely battles breast cancer, drawing strength from her family and friends. The narrative delves into how a woman’s wardrobe and relationships mirror her journey through overcoming breast cancer. Each skit lasts about 10 minutes.
The Drama Association of Rossmoor’s Traveling Troupe was founded in 2014 to share its work with other organizations in and outside of Rossmoor. They perform 10-15 minute skits (mostly comedies) at various meetings and luncheons. They offer this service for free to contribute to the community. The Drama Association of Rossmoor also provides classes on various aspects of theatre, such as acting, stagecraft, playwriting, script readings, prop setup, and theatre history.
