Antoinette Olson, long-time quilting enthusiast, will give a presentation to the Volunteer Exchange on Wednesday, Nov 6. The meeting will be at 10:30 a.m. in the Fireside Room at Gateway.
Quilting has a long history in America. Antoinette will touch on the history of quilting, as well as on the role that quilting played in African American history.
She will describe the different kinds and sizes of quilts and the evolution of quilting into an art form.
Antoinette will talk about her own experiences creating quilts and the different tools and skills that it requires. Lastly, she will display some quilts that she has made.
As always, non-members are welcome to attend club meetings.
**********************************************************************************
The men and women of the Volunteer Exchange perform services for each other such as transportation and pet care. In this way, they earn credit hours which they can use in the future to “pay” other members for services. New members able to provide services are always welcome. Services are not available to non-members.
Detailed information about the club can be found on the club’s web page. The web page can be easily accessed via a link in the “Clubs” section on the www.rossmoor.com web page.
For more information, residents are invited to attend one of the monthly meetings or call 906-9882.
