She will trace his evolution from a 12-year-old factory worker and cook’s assistant to becoming a barge builder who transported lumber downriver in Quebec, Canada. This marked the inception of his lumber and shipbuilding empire. His legacy is celebrated by the Dollar House in Rossmoor, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places in his honor, and converted into a clubhouse in Rossmoor since 1963. Meanwhile Stanley Dollar Drive, a tribute was named to acknowledge his significant contributions.
Ms. De Grace has been fascinated by history since childhood, a passion fueled by traveling the world with her parents. Over a decade ago, she and her husband relocated to Stanley Dollar Drive in Rossmoor. Intrigued by the street’s unique name, Ms. De Grace delved into its origins and uncovered the remarkable legacy of Robert Stanley Dollar. She aims to convey her astonishment to the audience regarding the significant accomplishments of the Dollar family in the New World.
