The Volunteer Exchange Program Presents: A Journey into the Ruth Bancroft Garden with Jacki Kohleriter
The Volunteer Exchange Program (VEP) will be hosting Jacki Kohleriter, the Visitor Education Manager at the Ruth Bancroft Garden & Nursery. Ms. Kohleriter will be delivering a talk about the garden on Wednesday, March 6, at 10:30 a.m. in the Fireside Room at Gateway.
The Ruth Bancroft Garden & Nursery, a unique outdoor botanical sanctuary located in Walnut Creek, also features an onsite retail nursery. The garden is renowned for its extensive collection of drought-tolerant and climate-adaptive plants, which are ideally suited for the environmental conditions of Contra Costa County.
During her talk, Ms. Kohleriter will present a narrative encompassing the garden’s rich history and the founding of the Garden Conservancy. Attendees will learn the uniqueness of the plant collection, the garden’s mission, and its wide range of programs. She will also highlight the crucial role of volunteers and discuss various ways community members can engage with and support the garden.
The Volunteer Exchange is a club where members exchange services such as transportation and pet care. By doing so, they earn credit hours that they can use to request services from other members. New members who can provide services are always welcome to join. Services are only available to members.
Non-members are also welcome to attend the club meetings.
You can find more information about the club on its web page, which is linked in the “Clubs” section of the www.rossmoor.com web site.
For more information, residents are invited to attend one of the monthly meetings or to call 1-925-906-9882.
