Arleen Sakamoto and Ken Karda, a tandem bicycle team, will present their adventures covering two countries, ten states, and 3,488 miles to the Volunteer Exchange Program on Wednesday, January 4, at 10:30 A.M. in the Fireside Room at Gateway Clubhouse.
Arleen, an avid cyclist, usually travels overseas with her bike. Ken, an enthusiastic local cyclist, dreamed of a Trans-America bike ride on his bucket list since his early 30's. Adding a tandem partner provided an opportunity to accomplish his long-time vision.
They would start on the Pacific Coast from Cresent City, California to Klamath Falls, Oregon for the Northwestern Tandem Rally and continue to Missoula, Montana for the Trans-American Bike Centennial Celebration before heading East via the Northern Tiers States across America. They will bring their bike, bags, and maps to show how they prepare for the trip and will talk about a few unusual stories that happened on their journey.
