Food Safety Facts, Wednesday, March 7, 2018
The VEP Board has invited Dr. Neville Chang, a Rossmoor resident, to give us a presentation on food safety facts at 10:30 A.M. in the Fireside Room at the Gateway Clubhouse on March 7.
His talk will cover conventional and organic food production and genetic engineering, leading to whether these food products are safe and what we can do to ensure that what we eat is safe. He will tell us what to look for when we shop, how to store our food, how best to handle our foodstuff in meal preparation.
Dr. Neville Chang has over 45 years of actual in-field experience in crop protection and crop production in the U.S., Asia (especially China), Latin America, Brazil, the EU and several major countries within the former USSR, including Russia. After retirement, Dr. Neville Chang has kept himself busy professionally. Currently he is an independent director of Rotam Global AgriScience, which is based in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, where he trains the managers on how to efficiently and effectively run the company and how best to work with farmers. He also serves as a consultant to managers from different companies that are going to Asia for the first time or coming to CA for overseas assignments. He coaches them on business culture and people management. He also helps farmers on the correct use of pesticides, and how to improve their production and how to better manage their business.

The Volunteer Program exists to help Rossmoor residents help each other. Members provide services for other members and ear credits for doing so. In turn, they can use their earned credits to obtain services from other members. Membership dues are $15 annually. There are no additional charges except for reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses such as gasoline and parking. It is not an emergency service and is not available to non-members.
