An Extraordinary Gift, September 5 , 2018
The Volunteer Exchange will meet on Wednesday, Sept 5 to learn about a locally based prosthetic hand project. The meeting will start at 10:30 a.m. in the Fireside Room at Gateway. The presentation is titled “An Extraordinary Gift”.
Over 30,000 hands have been distributed, in over 80 countries, at no cost to the recipients. Don and Linda Jenkins participate in this important work. They have recently returned from helping in Taiwan. They will explain about the devices and the part that the Rotary Club plays. Non-members are welcome to attend.
The men and women of the Volunteer Exchange perform services for each other such as transportation and pet care. In this way, they earn credit hours, which they can use in the future to “pay” other members for services. New members able to provide services are always welcome. Services are not available to non-members.
More detailed information about the club can be found on the club web page: https://rossmoorvep.weebly.com/
The web page can be easily accessed via a link in the “Clubs” section on the rossmoor.com web page. More information can also be obtained by attending one of the monthly meetings or by calling 925-906-9882.
*******************
The VEP welcomes residents who can assist other members with services such as transportation, personal care needs, and errands. Members log volunteer hours that can be exchanged for services when needed in the future. It is not an emergency service and is available to members only. Men and women may apply for membership by calling (925) 906-9882. Dues are $15 annually. Members who want to check their credit hours may call Antje Ahlemeyer 906-9882 or email [email protected].
There is an opening for the position of Program Coordinator who will serve on the Board. Call Linda Ledgerwood, (707) 685-2655 for more information. Any member using the transportation service should offer payment to cover gasoline expenses.
